I took Joey to meet a friend for lunch at a local restaurant the other day. Joey and I go in and get a table. It's the lunch hour rush, so the restaurant is packed. I find a table and get a high chair. I'm holding Joey (who is facing me) and trying to get the high chair set up.
We decided to give Joey some corn-on-the-cob this week! He loved it!
Then it happens. Joey vomits all over me. Not spit up vomit. "I'm the exorcist" vomit. All. Over. Me. I was even able to catch a few people's looks as this was happening. The looks of complete disgust and mortification. They were all enjoying their delicious burgers and fries AND watching my child profusely shoot projectile vomit all over his mama. Yummm.
However, he did not like to eat the corn like you were supposed to, he wanted to eat the cob itself!
I cannot believe that this has just happened. I go up to the restaurant staff to inform them that we are leaving, but that there may be vomit somewhere on that table or those chairs. As soon as the waitress sees me, she gasps at the sight of vomit all over me! I say "We're leaving, and I'm pretty sure that all of the vomit landed on me, but there may be a little on the table or floor. I'm really sorry that I cannot clean it up, but...". She completely understood and got me some napkins.
After almost choking on part of the cob he had bitten off, I held the corn for him so he could properly eat his corn!
We got outside and I changed Joey's clothes, which actually weren't that bad. My shirt, on the other hand, was a mess! Luckily, I had brought a sweatshirt, so I removed my vomit-covered shirt and put the sweatshirt on (this actually seriously sucked because we are having super warm weather right now, so the sweatshirt was total overkill). I called my friend, she had not arrived yet, and asked her if we could go somewhere else. Even though Joey and I were both cleaned up, and Joey was in a pretty good mood, I was a wee bit embarrassed to walk back in there. After all, my child's reenactment of "The Exorcist", was probably a little dramatic for that lunch time crew.
